The Geely Okavango has arrived in Vietnam and is awaiting its official market introduction. Sales consultants indicate that deliveries to customers are anticipated around early July.
Following the Monjaro, the Geely Okavango is the second SUV from the Chinese automaker to be sold in Vietnam. While the Monjaro features a more refined and luxurious design, the Okavango presents a robust and masculine overall aesthetic.

The Okavango is designed as a practical 7-seat option, contrasting with the 5-seat, comfort-focused Monjaro. This configuration allows it to accommodate more passengers, making it a suitable choice for larger families or those requiring more cargo space.
Regarding dimensions, the Okavango has a wheelbase of 2,825 mm, which is 20 mm shorter than the Monjaro. However, in all other key specifications, the new 7-seat model is larger than the Monjaro. Specifically, the Geely Okavango measures 4,860 x 1,910 x 1,770 mm (length x width x height), dimensions typically associated with the D-segment. The Monjaro, for comparison, is 4,770 x 1,895 x 1,689 mm.
Tasco Auto's exact market positioning for the Okavango remains unclear. Previously, the company placed the Monjaro in the D-segment SUV category, despite its dimensions being closer to C+. Given this precedent, the Okavango, with its D-segment dimensions similar to the Ford Everest, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Toyota Fortuner, could potentially be positioned at a higher tier within the segment. Dimensions for some D-segment models include:
Everest: 4,914 x 1,923 x 1,842 mm, 2,900 mm wheelbase
Santa Fe: 4,830 x 1,900 x 1,720 mm, 2,815 mm wheelbase
CX-8: 4,900 x 1,840 x 1,730 mm
According to sales consultants, the Okavango is expected to be sold in Vietnam in two versions: Executive and Premium. Standard features include LED front and rear lights, automatic headlights, and 19-inch alloy wheels. It will have a Mac Pherson front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension.

Inside, the Chinese model features a modern cockpit. Geely has equipped it with a 14.6-inch screen behind the steering wheel and an 8-inch infotainment screen for the lower trim, with a 14.6-inch screen for the higher trim. All seats, in a 2+3+2 configuration, are leather-wrapped.
The Geely Okavango is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, producing 181 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. These figures are comparable to C-segment vehicles, such as the Honda CR-V 1.5-liter turbocharged version, which offers 188 horsepower and 240 Nm. The Okavango comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The Okavango's price in the Vietnamese market has not yet been announced. For reference, the 5-seat Monjaro SUV is priced between VND 1.099-1.199 billion.
