The BYD Atto 8, known as the Tang L in its domestic market, is the brand's first model with ultra-fast charging technology in Europe. It debuted at the Paris Auto Show 2026, featuring a 7-seat configuration, 764 horsepower, and a 136-liter front trunk that opens with a double tap.
The Atto 8 features BYD's second-generation Blade LFP battery pack with a capacity of 115 kWh, providing a 653 km range on a full charge according to WLTP standards. The battery's main highlight is its fast-charging technology, allowing a charge from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes, or 10% to 70% in 5 minutes. In temperatures of negative 30 degrees Celsius, charging time will increase by approximately 3 minutes. BYD plans to install 6.000 fast-charging stations in international markets by the end of 2027.

A BYD representative stated the Atto 8 is currently Europe's most powerful 7-seat SUV, with 764 horsepower and 775 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4,6 seconds before reaching a top speed of 240 km/h. Though it leads its 7-seat segment in power, the Atto 8 is not the fastest model. For example, the Audi SQ7 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4,1 seconds.
This large crossover measures 5.040 x 1.996 x 1.760 mm (length x width x height) with a wheelbase of 2.950 mm. Unlike the 5-seat version in China, the model sold in Europe will feature a three-row, 2+3+2 seating configuration. In addition to the 136-liter front trunk that opens with a double tap, the vehicle also includes a power-operated rear tailgate.
The BYD Atto 8 is expected to go on sale in Europe from Q1/2027, with official pricing yet to be announced. For reference, the brand's current 7-seat Tang EV was previously priced at 75.000 EUR (83.885 USD) in Germany, but has since been reduced to 47.990 EUR (53.675 USD) according to information on the company's website.
In China, the BYD Tang L EV (Atto 8 EV) is priced between 222.800-272.800 yuan (equivalent to 33.290-40.765 USD). According to data from China EV DataTracker, domestic deliveries for the first 8 months of the year reached 4.426 units, a decrease of 87,5% compared to the same period in 2025.
