Entering 2026, the C-segment sedan market saw a quiet start with a significant drop in sales compared to the final month of 2025. Despite this being the peak shopping season before Tet, cooling consumer demand led to a decline across many models in this group, reflecting the ongoing contraction of the C-segment sedan line in Vietnam.
The Mazda3 continues to be the most prominent model, selling 406 units in January, a slight decrease from 423 units in December 2025. Mazda’s model maintains its advantage due to a design that appeals to young buyers, relatively comprehensive features, and an accessible price point within the segment. The significant sales gap between the Mazda3 and its competitors indicates that it remains the primary choice for consumers considering a C-segment sedan.
Kia K3 sales data has not been reported separately since 2026. Previously, this model sold 193 units in December 2025. Under a new reporting method by Thaco, the distributor of Kia in Vietnam, sales of several small-sized and sedan models such as the Morning, K3, K5, and Soluto are now grouped under "other cars". This change makes it challenging to fully track competitive developments within the segment as before.
The remaining models all recorded sales below 100 units in one month. The Honda Civic sold 88 units, remaining largely flat compared to the previous month. The Civic maintains a stable customer base thanks to its sporty style and distinct driving experience, but its sales volume highlights that this segment is becoming increasingly niche. The Hyundai Elantra recorded 57 units, a decrease from 74 units in December 2025. The Toyota Corolla Altis continued to be at the bottom of the group, registering only 6 units, a sharp drop from 28 units the previous month.

The C-segment sedan market enters 2026 with a less vibrant outlook, as most market demand is shifting towards crossovers, urban SUVs, or electric vehicles. The Mazda3 still leads the segment, but the overall size of the segment indicates that the influence of C-segment sedans is gradually shrinking year by year.
