A car exploded into a massive fireball on Wall Street, just steps from the iconic Charging Bull statue, on the afternoon of 19/5. The incident, captured in numerous videos by eyewitnesses, sent pedestrians fleeing in panic and drivers hastily backing away as black smoke enveloped a section of the street.
The blaze began during afternoon rush hour outside the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) headquarters at 2 Broadway. The vehicle quickly became a fireball, accompanied by multiple explosions and thick black smoke. The MTA confirmed the burning vehicle belonged to its fleet.
Police and firefighters responded to the scene, taking nearly 90 minutes to fully control the inferno. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, according to the New York City Fire Department (FDNY).
While no suspicious activity has been reported, an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
