A speeding car collided directly with a motorcyclist crossing an intersection from a perpendicular direction on 12/6 in Au Co. The impact threw the motorcyclist into the air and onto the roadside. The condition of the motorcyclist remains unknown.

Intersections are often accident hotspots due to conflicting traffic from multiple directions. Drivers must reduce speed before entering an intersection to react to unexpected situations. Specifically, car drivers should not only slow down when approaching an intersection but also shift their foot from the accelerator to the brake pedal to shorten reaction time if a motorcycle crosses.

In this specific incident, the motorcycle had already entered the intersection well before the car arrived, indicating the driver should have actively reduced speed as much as possible.

Decree 168/2024 stipulates a fine of 20-22 million VND for car drivers who fail to reduce speed and cause an accident at an intersection, along with a deduction of 10 points from their driving license.
