Firefighters used both chemical foam and water to extinguish the blaze.
The vehicle involved was a Nissan Cefiro sedan, driven by a 72-year-old man. During questioning, he recounted filling his car with gas that morning before moving it forward to inflate the tires.
After inflating the tires, he discovered the tire valve was missing. Believing it might have fallen beneath the car, he attempted to reposition the vehicle to search. However, as he reversed and pressed the accelerator, the car struck a fuel pump.
According to Khaosod, there were fortunately no injuries. However, the car was completely destroyed, reduced to a bare frame, and one fuel pump was severely damaged.
