Car spun sideways after highway dispute

A sedan cut off a dashcam-equipped car, but the dashcam car tried to overtake, resulting in a side collision on 21/6.

Video: CTV

On the Hanoi - Lao Cai highway, near Van Quan commune, Lap Thach district (Vinh Phuc), a car with a dashcam was traveling at approximately 70 km/h in the left lane near the median. When the sedan in front signaled and moved to the right lane, the dashcam car accelerated to pass. However, the sedan abruptly swerved back to the left, seemingly blocking the overtake. The dashcam car still attempted to squeeze past on the left, resulting in a collision with the rear of the sedan. The impact caused the sedan to lose control and spin sideways. Casualties are unknown at this time.

Drivers should ensure safe conditions when changing lanes or overtaking. It's crucial to remain calm and avoid aggressive driving, prioritizing safety to prevent accidents. In this video, the dashcam car driver could have decelerated and reported the sedan's dangerous lane change to authorities, instead of accelerating and attempting to overtake.

According to Decree 168/2024 on road traffic sanctions, improper lane changes causing accidents result in fines of 20-22 million VND and 10 driver's license points deduction.
