Car stops on highway without warning

On a lane with a 90 km/h speed limit, a car stopped without warning devices on 27/11 on Vo Nguyen Giap street.

A driver narrowly avoided an accident on Vo Nguyen Giap street when a white car was unexpectedly stopped in the middle lane, which has a 90 km/h speed limit. Hidden by the vehicle ahead, the dashcam-equipped driver was caught by surprise, as the stopped car displayed no warning devices. Fortunately, the driver swerved in time, preventing a potential collision.

Drivers whose vehicles break down on the road should not stop in a traffic lane. Instead, they should try to move their vehicle to the emergency lane. Stopping in active traffic lanes poses a significant accident risk, especially on high-speed highways. If stopping in a traffic lane is unavoidable and moving to an emergency lane is not possible, drivers must immediately activate their vehicle's hazard lights. Depending on the road's speed limit, a reflective triangle should be placed 100-150 meters behind the vehicle to alert approaching traffic.

Decree 168/2024 stipulates fines of 400,000-600,000 VND for stopping without activating warning signals. If this violation causes an accident, the fine increases significantly to 20-22 million VND.
