New generation Audi Q5 arrives in Vietnam, set to compete with GLC, X3

The German automaker showcased and confirmed the third generation Q5 will go on sale in 2026.

The new generation Q5 appeared at Audi's first global standard dealership in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, known as the Progressive Showroom Concept. This compact luxury SUV is now accepting customer deposits, with sales scheduled for 2026, though a specific date has not yet been announced.

The 2026 Audi Q5, part of the third generation, features comprehensive improvements to both its interior and exterior design. Compared to its predecessor, the new Q5 presents a more masculine and sporty aesthetic.

The Audi Q5 incorporates matrix LED headlights and new OLED taillights, delivering a modern and high-tech feel. The familiar honeycomb grille has been refined for a more robust appearance.

The interior is where the Q5 underwent its most significant transformation. Unlike the simpler style of the previous generation, the new Audi model features numerous touchscreens. More illuminated touch buttons are now present on the door panels and steering wheel.

The Audi Q5 cockpit is equipped with three screens: an 11,9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14,5-inch central infotainment screen, and an optional 10,9-inch passenger display. The electronic gear shifter features a minimalist design, similar to the style seen in recent BMW models.

Audi Vietnam has not yet specified which versions of the new generation Q5 will be distributed. The model showcased in Vietnam is equipped with a 2.0 turbocharged mild-hybrid engine, producing 268 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.

In international markets, the Audi Q5 also offers a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant, combining a 2.0 turbocharged engine and an electric motor. This powertrain provides two different power output levels: 295 horsepower and 362 horsepower, depending on the version. The accompanying battery has a capacity of 25,9 kWh, offering an all-electric range of up to approximately 100 km.

The distributor has not yet disclosed the price of the new generation Q5. The current Audi Q5 starts at approximately 2,39 billion VND. Competitors include the Mercedes GLC, priced from 2,319 to 2,839 billion VND, and the BMW X3, ranging from 2,279 to 2,629 billion VND.

Beyond the Q5 announcement, Audi Vietnam also stated its plans to upgrade and expand its dealership network in 2026. This initiative begins with the German automaker's global standard Audi Progressive Showroom Concept model. The showroom located in Saigon ward, TP HCM, is the first to be developed under this new style.

Audi's new showroom model focuses on personalized customer experiences. The interior prioritizes environmentally friendly materials. The new-style showroom features eight separate zones, covering everything from customer reception to vehicle handover. The company enhances user interaction through a new design style and integrated technology.

Creating and emphasizing experiential spaces is a common strategy for luxury car brands to build brand value and retain customers. Before Audi's new model, fellow German rivals such as BMW and Mercedes also established dealerships in Vietnam with similar objectives.
