Japanese automaker Daihatsu has launched the 2026 Mira e:S for its domestic market. This new version of the hatchback features upgrades focused on improving fuel efficiency and enhancing safety systems, while maintaining an accessible starting price.
Despite entering its second generation in 2017, the exterior and interior design of the Mira e:S 2026 show minimal changes compared to its predecessor. The exterior now offers two new paint colors: Ceramic Green Metallic and Grace Brown Crystal Mica. Additionally, LED headlights are standard for the X and X Limited trims.
A highlight of the new Mira e:S is its refined three-cylinder 660 cc gasoline engine. According to the manufacturer, the front-wheel drive (FWD) version achieves an average fuel consumption of 3,7 liters per 100 km, an 8% improvement over the current model.

Daihatsu also states that the new engine's power and torque have increased, though specific figures are not yet announced. For comparison, the previous engine produced 48 horsepower and 57 Nm of peak torque. The vehicle uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and is available with either FWD or four-wheel drive (4WD).
Safety standards on the Mira e:S have been upgraded with the addition of the latest advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) package, similar to those found in other Daihatsu models and other manufacturers' vehicles.
The collision avoidance braking system is improved, now capable of detecting bicycles, oncoming vehicles when turning right at intersections, and pedestrians approaching from the opposite direction when the car is turning. Furthermore, nighttime pedestrian detection is a standard feature, and the system's maximum operating speed has increased from 60 km/h to 80 km/h.
The early departure suppression system, for both the front and rear of the vehicle, now integrates active brake control to reduce parking collisions at low speeds. The stereo camera system adds roadside departure warning and sway warning functions. An optional Smart Drive Recorder Upgrade Package allows the system to function as a dashcam.

The Daihatsu Mira e:S product line has been streamlined by removing the base B trim and replacing the premium G trim with a new X Limited variant. The X Limited trim, based on the mid-range X, adds amenities such as: push-button start, smart key, heated front seats, driver's seat height adjustment, tilt steering wheel, automatic climate control, and power-folding mirrors.
In Japan, the 2026 Daihatsu Mira e:S hatchback is priced between 6,900 and 9,500 USD.
