Exclusive accessories in the Xiaomi YU7 electric vehicle

A magnetic tissue box and multiple magnetic mounting points enhance the user experience.

The Xiaomi YU7, a new electric SUV from China, introduces unique accessories and smart features not found in its sedan counterpart, the SU7.

Magnetic tissue box

The YU7 features a magnetic recess behind the infotainment screen designed to hold a color-coordinated tissue box, shown in orange in a recent video. This is just one of 9 magnetic mounting points throughout the vehicle. The magnetic tissue box is listed at 169 CNY (24 USD) on the Xiaomi Auto App Mall.

On 2/7, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun addressed online questions about the tissue box's price, which some considered excessive. He explained that the box's design, materials, and manufacturing process were complex. The initial design failed automotive regulations, requiring material and adhesive changes that increased costs. Xiaomi later clarified that the box could also be used on refrigerators, desks, or other magnetic surfaces.

Customizable charging ports

Perhaps the YU7's most innovative feature, exclusive to this model, is its customizable button. Users program the button's function and attach it to any of the vehicle's magnetic points. It can then be used for actions like simultaneously unlocking the doors and trunk, or initiating navigation home without interacting with the infotainment screen.
