In the list of the top 10 best-selling cars in Vietnam in July, B-segment SUVs (CUV) occupied three spots. The names included VinFast VF 6, Toyota Yaris Cross, and Mitsubishi Xforce. Only the VF 6 is fully electric, while the other two models use internal combustion engines or hybrid systems.
VinFast's smaller models are appealing to first-time buyers, for both personal use and ride-hailing services. The Vietnamese automaker has the best-selling VF 5 in the A+ segment, and the VF 6 leads the B-segment market share.
From the beginning of the year to July, the VinFast VF 6 maintained average sales of over 1,400 vehicles per month, a feat no gasoline-powered competitor has achieved. The VF 6 is among the most expensive models in its segment, but its on-the-road cost is among the lowest, thanks to government tax exemptions. At the same time, VinFast frequently offers discounts for the VF 6 and is currently covering all charging costs for owners until mid-2027.
With lower on-the-road and daily operating costs than most gasoline-powered competitors, the VF 6 has become a popular choice for both individual and commercial buyers. As a result, VinFast's model has risen to the top of the segment in the past year.

Besides the VF 6, the competition among gasoline-powered vehicles is divided into two groups. The first is the duel between the Xforce and the Yaris Cross.
Various discounts and promotions from both manufacturers and dealerships are helping the Xforce get back on track, with July being the second month with sales exceeding 1,000 units. However, the Yaris Cross has also picked up speed with similar promotions.
The Xforce has currently sold 900 fewer units than its Toyota rival after 7 months. This gap is not impossible to close in the remainder of 2025. But if the Mitsubishi model cannot surpass it, the top spot in the segment will change hands again after just one year. This demonstrates the fierce competition in one of the most popular segments in the market.
The second competitive group consists of three names: Honda HR-V, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos, with sales around 3,500 units. In contrast to the rise of the Japanese models and the VF 6 at the top, the Korean duo of Creta and Seltos continue to stagnate.
Compared to the same period in 2024, Creta's sales in the first 7 months of 2025 increased by only 2%, while Seltos slightly decreased by 1%. Considering only models with disclosed sales figures, Seltos is the only name in the segment with negative growth. The Mazda CX-3 remains the slowest-selling model, with cumulative sales from the beginning of 2025 not yet reaching 1,700 units per month.
In terms of market share, the VinFast VF 6 dominates with 30%, followed by the Yaris Cross and Xforce with 19% and 17% respectively. This segment also includes other names like Omoda C5, Geely Coolray, BYD Atto 2, etc., but their distributors have not released sales data.
