On 16/7, Chinese automaker Geely launched the Monjaro, a D-segment crossover, in Vietnam. It's available with petrol or hybrid powertrains, priced from 1.099 to 1.199 billion VND.
The Monjaro's design is clean, simple, and elegant. The front features a large grille and prominent lines on the hood, giving it a robust look. Daytime running lights are integrated into both the top and bottom edges of the headlights, while the taillights are a full-width LED strip across the rear.
The interior is spacious and minimalist, featuring three 12.3-inch screens: a driver display, a central infotainment screen, and a passenger display. The gear selector area has a multifunctional crystal button and four other physical buttons.
Standard features include power-adjustable and ventilated front seats, massage function for the driver's seat, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control with a fine dust filter, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and voice control.

While classified as a D-segment vehicle, the Monjaro's dimensions fall between the C and D segments: 4,770 mm long, 1,895 mm wide, and 1,689 mm high, with a 2,845 mm wheelbase. This makes it smaller than most D-segment competitors like the Ford Everest (4,914 x 1,923 x 1,842 mm), Hyundai Santa Fe (4,830 x 1,900 x 1,720 mm), Mazda CX-8 (4,900 x 1,840 x 1,730 mm), and Toyota Fortuner (4,795 x 1,855 x 1,835 mm).
The petrol version features a 2.0 turbocharged engine producing 234 hp and 350 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The hybrid version combines a 1.5 turbocharged engine (163 hp and 255 Nm) with a 136 hp electric motor (320 Nm), utilizing a 3-speed DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission). This setup delivers a combined output of 241 hp and 545 Nm of torque to the front wheels.
The Monjaro is equipped with a comprehensive suite of ADAS features: adaptive cruise control, automatic parking, a 540-degree camera (including a 360-degree camera and undercarriage view), lane keeping assist, lane change assist, and traffic sign recognition.
The petrol Monjaro Premium is priced at 1.149 billion VND, while the Flagship version costs 1.199 billion VND and adds Infinity speakers, a HUD, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive suspension. The hybrid variant is priced at 1.099 billion VND.
In the D-segment, crossovers are currently less popular than SUVs, particularly the Ford Everest. However, within the unibody crossover segment, the Monjaro has the potential to make a significant impact.
The Monjaro's price is mid-range for its segment, despite its smaller size compared to rivals and its relatively new brand presence. To gain market share from established competitors, the Monjaro needs to prove its performance, features, and suitability for Vietnamese drivers.
