A video recently posted by traffic police in Hoai Nam city, An Huy province, garnered significant attention. At the Thien Kieu intersection, a woman riding an electric bicycle was observed wearing an unusually shaped helmet. Authorities signaled her to stop for inspection, discovering the helmet was actually a Level 3 Helmet, a prop from the shooting game PUBG.
When questioned, the woman explained that she had temporarily borrowed her grandson's helmet because he was not home and she needed to ride her electric bicycle. The officers' lighthearted remarks quickly transformed the scene into an impromptu public safety lesson.
Hoai Nam traffic police later emphasized that the Level 3 Helmet from the game is merely a plastic toy. It cannot withstand the impact forces of a real traffic accident. Residents riding electric bicycles are legally required to wear helmets bearing a 3C certification label.
The 3C certification (China Compulsory Certification - CCC) is a mandatory license for products permitted to be sold in the market. Effective 1/5/2025, 3C certification became officially mandatory for motorcycle and electric bicycle helmets.
