The incident occurred around 6:40 on 6/10 at a parking spot with a charging station in Melikgazi district, Kayseri province, Turkey. The TOGG T10X stood alone, emitting thick smoke before flames engulfed the vehicle.
Following the fire, the charging station operator confirmed that the charging process had concluded overnight, with no electricity flowing to the vehicle at the time of the blaze. A charging cable remaining plugged into a vehicle does not mean it is actively charging.
The vehicle owner stated that a 95% charging limit was set. The fire erupted approximately four hours after the charging process was completed. This detail prompted stakeholders to re-evaluate the initial assumption that the incident occurred during active charging, according to Arabagarajim.
This 2023 TOGG T10X had traveled approximately 80,000 km, had no history of collisions or accidents, and received full regular maintenance at an authorized dealership. However, the vehicle's battery pack was previously replaced under warranty at 47,000 km. While this is a factor for technical investigation, there is currently no evidence directly linking the battery replacement to the fire.

Due to the vehicle's complete destruction, investigating the cause is challenging. Experts need to conduct a comprehensive examination of the high-voltage battery system, charging infrastructure, vehicle electrical system, and the fire's origin point. There is currently no official confirmation that the fire originated from the battery. While some suspect the battery as the cause, experts emphasize that no final conclusion can be reached until the technical examination is complete.
The vehicle owner contacted TOGG around 7:30 AM on the same day. The company's technical team quickly arrived at the scene to recover the vehicle remains and provided a replacement car to the customer on the same day. The damaged vehicle was subsequently transported to the Togg Production and Technology Center in Gemlik, Bursa, for investigation. There, experts will conduct an in-depth examination, from the fire's ignition point to the entire high-voltage system.
The most notable aspect of the incident is that the vehicle was not receiving power despite being connected to the charging station. System records indicate that the charging process concluded around 2:30 AM, with no current flow thereafter. Nevertheless, this does not completely rule out the charging system's involvement. The investigation results from TOGG are crucial. Factors such as the warranty battery replacement history, the 80,000 km mileage, and the timing of the fire hours after charging will be key areas of focus.
TOGG (Türkiye’nin Otomobili Girişim Grubu) is Turkey's first and currently only domestic car manufacturer, launched in 2018 and introducing prototypes of its first two products in late 2019. Both vehicles use electric powertrains and include a sedan and a C-segment SUV.
In 2022, TOGG began production of the T10X SUV, followed by the T10F sedan in 2025. The company's plan until 2030 includes three products: a coupe, an SUV, and an MPV.
In 2025, Togg sold a total of 39,020 vehicles (including the T10X and T10F), becoming the best-selling electric vehicle brand in Turkey, surpassing Tesla (31,509 vehicles) and BYD (19,679 vehicles). These three leading brands collectively accounted for 47,5% of the Turkish electric vehicle market share; with Togg alone holding approximately 21%, according to Denkstrom.
In the first five months of 2026, Togg sold a total of 16,745 vehicles, achieving approximately 25% market share in the electric vehicle segment; the T10X led with 9,070 units sold, followed by the T10F with 7,675 units.
