Developed exclusively for the Chinese market, this electric vehicle from the South Korean automaker utilizes Hyundai's E-GMP electric platform. It will offer two powertrains: a pure electric vehicle (EV) and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). MIIT filings indicate the sedan supports 800V fast charging and features a high-performance electric drive system.
The Ioniq V measures 4,900 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, 1,470 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. These dimensions are comparable to the Ioniq 6.
The Ioniq V's exterior features a low-slung fastback sedan design, departing from the boxy SUV styling common in China's EV market. Key exterior highlights, as detailed in MIIT filings, include frameless doors, large aerodynamic wheels, and a "star trail" taillight design spanning the entire width.
Inside, the Ioniq V features a 27-inch ultra-thin 4K screen, a detail Hyundai confirmed at Auto China 2026. The interior lighting system draws inspiration from nebulae, complemented by a "Cyber Eye" head-up display. This system integrates Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8295 chip, along with artificial intelligence features supported by Baidu and Volcano Engine technology, according to Autohome.

Another key feature is Momenta's level 2+ driving function, an essential capability for competing in China's highly competitive EV market.
At Auto China 2026, Hyundai Motor CEO Jose Munoz stated that the company plans to launch 20 new models in China over the next 5 years, including electric vehicles, EREVs, hybrids, and gasoline-powered vehicles. The Ioniq V is among the first major electric vehicle products focused on the Chinese market, launched by Hyundai under its new localization strategy for the region.
