More than two years after introducing the midsummer roadster, British automaker Morgan has once again partnered with Italian design studio Pininfarina to develop a coupe variant. The new model, named midsummer coupe, will see a production run of only 9 units, significantly fewer than the 50 units of the roadster.

The midsummer coupe's development originated from a customer's request for a hardtop version of the midsummer. Morgan did not merely add a roof; the company redesigned the entire upper body with an extended glass roof, split by a metal strip running from front to rear. Compared to the roadster, the midsummer coupe features higher doors and integrated door handles, creating a seamless body surface. Its 19-inch multi-spoke wheels are also exclusive to the coupe version.
Inside, the midsummer coupe's cockpit combines leather, wood, and aluminum, reflecting Morgan's signature handcrafted style. The glass roof and a large U-shaped rear window allow more natural light into the cabin. Morgan replaced BMW's standard gear shifter with a custom-developed aluminum one, while retaining the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission from the roadster.
Despite the added hardtop, the midsummer coupe is only about 2,5% heavier than the supersport with its optional hardtop. Morgan stated that it significantly reinforced the body structure to increase rigidity and adjusted the body proportions to suit the coupe's design.
Powering the car is a BMW B58 turbocharged 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine with rear-wheel drive. Morgan has not yet announced the midsummer coupe's specific power output, but in the supersport 400, this engine produces 402 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.
Morgan has not announced the price. However, industry experts anticipate the midsummer coupe will be priced higher than the midsummer roadster, which starts at over 200,000 GBP.
