From 1/1/2026, the special consumption tax (SCT) for hybrid vehicles, including self-charging hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), will be applied in Vietnam. This information has prompted many consumers to consider their vehicle purchase timing, as a reduction in SCT theoretically allows manufacturers to lower prices for hybrid models, making them more accessible to buyers.
However, SCT incentives were previously applied to PHEV models and are now extending to HEV lines. To qualify for these benefits, self-charging HEV models must meet specific conditions, which the Ministry of Construction is expected to announce in detail this year.

A representative from Lynk & Co Vietnam stated that the company's 08 EM-P SUV is a PHEV, and its current selling price already incorporates a 70% special consumption tax incentive compared to gasoline or diesel vehicles. The representative added, "The 08 EM-P comes in two versions, listed at 1,299 billion VND and 1,389 billion VND respectively. These prices will not fluctuate after 1/1/2026, as the distributor has already included the incentive in the selling price, meaning buyers do not need to wait for the policy to take effect."
Incorporating the tax incentive into the selling price early provides the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P, and other PHEV models, a competitive advantage over traditional internal combustion engine SUVs or HEVs in its segment. This month, Lynk & Co Vietnam is also offering a 100% registration fee waiver and one year of free comprehensive insurance for select models, making vehicle ownership more accessible for consumers.

Highlights of the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P
The Lynk & Co 08 EM-P SUV embodies Lynk & Co's vision for the future of electrified vehicles, featuring the E-Motive Performance platform that flexibly coordinates internal combustion, hybrid, and all-electric powertrains within a single car.
The 08 EM-P's design was led by Stefan Rosen, Lynk & Co's design director, who previously spent 18 years at Volvo Cars. It incorporates elements from the latest "The Next Day" concept design. This design language is evident in the body lines that extend seamlessly to the rear. It features an electric-style grille, hidden side door handles, and a swept-back C-pillar creating a "floating roof" effect, characteristic of a luxury SUV coupe.

The interior features a 15,4-inch infotainment screen with 2,5K resolution, anti-glare, and anti-fingerprint properties, providing sharp and engaging visuals. Drivers can adjust nearly all vehicle functions via this screen, including entertainment systems, comfort features, driving modes, air conditioning vents, and password settings. The premium version includes a Harman Kardon sound system with 23 speakers and 1,600 W of power, ergonomic Nappa leather seats with heating and massage functions, and a panoramic sunroof.
The Lynk & Co 08 EM-P utilizes a 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine (137 hp, 230 Nm) combined with a P3 electric motor (208 hp, 350 Nm), delivering a total output of 345 hp and a maximum torque of 580 Nm. It is equipped with a 39,6 kWh NCM battery, which is larger than some all-electric models on the market. Power is delivered to the front wheels, with torque distributed via a 3DHT (dedicated hybrid transmission) Evo gearbox.
The vehicle offers three driving modes: EV, Hybrid, and Power, with an all-electric range of up to 200 km. The HEV mode employs both series hybrid and parallel hybrid mechanisms, automatically adapting to user driving habits. It primarily uses the electric motor for propulsion, with the gasoline engine providing power for short and medium distances.
The Lynk & Co 08 EM-P achieved a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, attributed to its CMA Evo chassis platform and a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). These systems are supported by 5 radars, 10 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors, designed to anticipate and react to potential collision risks.
According to experts, the complete import of the 08 EM-P from Trung Quoc, offered in two versions priced at 1,299 billion VND and 1,389 billion VND (including VAT), demonstrates Lynk & Co's methodical approach in its long-term development strategy for Vietnam.
