Lynk & Co 900: Redefining the "new premium" experience

From fragrance and materials to sound and comfort across all three rows, the Lynk & Co 900 crafts a "new premium" experience for its flagship SUV, priced over 3 billion VND.

As the brand's top-tier vehicle, the Lynk & Co 900 seeks to establish a unique definition within the large SUV segment, classified as E+ in the automotive industry.

The Lynk & Co 900 emerges as a large, high-riding SUV capable of multi-terrain travel, yet its interior echoes a luxury MPV, where space and a multi-sensory comfort experience for passengers are paramount.

Most large premium SUVs typically concentrate comfort and amenities in the first two rows. The third row often receives less attention, primarily serving to increase seating for short trips, fold down for cargo, or create a more open cabin feel.

Lynk & Co adopts a different approach for its flagship 900, offering a single version in Vietnam with a six-seat, 2+2+2 configuration. This design underscores the brand's philosophy of providing comfort for all six positions. While the second row offers the most amenities, the experience extends beyond it.

Stepping inside the cabin, the initial experience isn't from large screens, but from the intelligent fragrance system awakening the sense of smell. The Lynk & Co 900 provides three customizable scent options: summer, breeze, or ember, each with three adjustable intensity levels.

The fragrance system diffuses a gentle scent throughout the cabin, complemented by three independent automatic climate control zones, creating an environment separate from the outside world.

Next is the sense of touch. The interior features premium Nappa leather on all three rows, with multi-layer cushion structures designed to distribute body pressure. According to Lynk & Co, the 900's seats offer a contact area of 2,759 cm² and are designed to distribute body pressure, achieving an "excellent G" comfort rating from the China Quality Certification Center (CQC). The brand refers to this design as "cloud-feel" pressure-reducing seats, ensuring passengers experience greater comfort on long journeys.

All six seating positions in the Lynk & Co 900 include a massage function, while the first two rows also offer ventilation. The business-class second-row seats recline up to 155 degrees, providing a relaxed posture for extended trips.

The quiet cabin then opens up another auditory experience. The Lynk & Co 900 is equipped with a Harman Kardon performance audio system featuring 31 speakers, a maximum output of 2,640 W, a 7.1.4 sound configuration, and Dolby Atmos support. Instead of focusing the sound field solely on the driver or the first two rows, the system is arranged to ensure all six seating positions are within the optimal sound zone. The first and second rows also have integrated speakers in the headrests, creating an immersive sound experience for listeners rather than sound emanating from fixed points in the cabin.

The visual experience is enhanced by large displays. A 30-inch 6K integrated screen is positioned in the front, while rear passengers benefit from an additional 30-inch 6K entertainment screen mounted on the ceiling. Combined with an augmented reality head-up display offering a projected image size equivalent to 95 inches, this system creates a seamless digital environment from the driver's seat to the passenger compartment.

Even for taste, the Lynk & Co 900 comes with a 9-liter refrigerator, capable of cooling beverages down to -6 degrees C and warming them up to 50 degrees C, catering to the owner's preferences.

The elements of fragrance, materials, sound, and visuals are not standalone features. They are combined to create a multi-sensory experience for passengers, explaining how Lynk & Co approaches the "new premium" concept in its flagship 900 SUV, where enjoyment is not reserved for a specific position.

This is particularly evident in the third row. With a 3,160 mm wheelbase and a flat cabin floor, the Lynk & Co 900 offers more space to arrange three rows of seats, ensuring the two rearmost positions are not merely auxiliary. The brand employs a theater-style seating arrangement, elevating the third row to enhance the occupants' view, while also equipping it with massage functions and comfort adjustments similar to the front positions.

According to the brand, the 900's passenger space utilization rate reaches 88,2%. This is a basis for Lynk & Co's "equal comfort for all rows" philosophy, aiming for consistent comfort across all three rows, rather than viewing the last row as a compromise for a six-seat configuration.

This layout also provides a different experience when the vehicle is stationary. The two independent second-row seats can electrically swivel 90 degrees towards the doors for easier entry and exit, or 180 degrees to face the last row. From a standard 2+2+2 structure, the rear compartment can be transformed into various seating configurations, allowing occupants to converse, relax, work, or even recreate a mobile cinema experience.

In these scenarios, the large SUV clearly demonstrates the qualities of a luxury MPV. From this perspective, the "new premium" concept of the 900 is not solely defined by materials or the quantity of features, but by how the vehicle uses technology to deliver new user experiences.

The philosophy of creating a consistent experience for all six positions in the Lynk & Co 900 extends beyond comfort. The brand's "new premium" positioning also applies a similar approach to its safety platform.

The core value of the Lynk & Co 900's safety system is the SPA Evo chassis, an architecture inherited from the globally renowned Volvo SPA platform. The vehicle body utilizes a high proportion of high-strength steel, with hot-stamped steel reaching a maximum hardness of 2,000 MPa in critical areas such as the A and B pillars, door structures, and side impact beams.

Notably, the dual door ring structure (a hot-stamped, unibody door frame) is introduced by Lynk & Co as a world-first technology applied to this SUV. The brand states that this design significantly increases overall rigidity and reduces over 100 weld points, thereby minimizing the risk of structural failure during severe collisions.

Inside the cabin, the premium SUV features 11 airbags, including third-row airbags, a central airbag, and full-cabin curtain airbags. The Lynk & Co 900 completed its initial extreme crash tests in China for all three rows, simulating a rear-end collision at 100 km/h, followed by a side impact at a similar speed.

Additionally, the "new premium" brand has developed a dedicated mother and child grade healthy cabin system for the Lynk & Co 900.

Specifically, the brand applied a "three noes" criterion inside the cabin: no asphalt, no recycled cotton, and no toxic solvents, aiming to eliminate dangerous emissions or harmful volatile organic compounds within the vehicle. For children, the system also integrates an in-car child detection system, smart child locks, a child standing warning, a voice-activated rear view monitor, anti-pinch doors, and TÜV Rheinland blue light reduction technology.

As a large hybrid SUV, battery safety is a top priority for Lynk & Co in developing its safety technology platform. The battery pack in this vehicle underwent over 1,250 tests during development, including scenarios such as puncture, extreme compression, thermal diffusion, high-intensity vibration, fire, explosion, water immersion, and high-voltage protection.

Building on the foundational aspects of traditional premium SUVs, the Lynk & Co 900 anticipates new customer trends, catering to those who need a vehicle for work and a safe, amenity-rich space for the entire family on long journeys.

While European luxury car brands have long been considered benchmarks for safety, Lynk & Co's development of the 900 demonstrates how new automakers are entering the market on equal footing, closing the gap with advanced body structures, electrification technology, and extended protection standards for all three rows.

In the Vietnamese market, the Lynk & Co 900 is available in a single version priced at 3,069 billion VND, with four exterior color options and three interior colors. The vehicle comes with a six-year or 175,000 km warranty, and the high-voltage battery, electric motor, and motor controller are covered for eight years or 200,000 km, whichever comes first.
