Seven people died and three sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision involving a minibus and an oncoming truck on 27/1. The tragic accident occurred on the E70 highway between the towns of Caransebes and Lugoj in western Romania.
Dashcam footage from an overtaken vehicle captured the moment the minibus suddenly changed lanes into the opposing traffic to perform an overtake. An approaching truck then appeared, and the minibus seemingly had no time to swerve. The head-on impact almost completely destroyed the vehicle, ejecting some occupants.
All victims were fans of the Greek football club PAOK. They were traveling to France to watch their important Europa League match against Lyon, scheduled for 29/1.
