Amidst the overall market growth, sales for most B-segment MPV models in october improved compared to the previous month. The Mitsubishi Xpander continued to dominate its rivals with sales reaching 2,644 units, accounting for more than half of the total sales in the entire segment.
Excluding the Xpander, no other model in the segment achieved sales of 1,000 units in october. The Toyota Veloz came closest with 817 units sold.
The gap between the Xpander and the Toyota Veloz and Avanza duo continued to widen. After 10 months, the Mitsubishi model sold nearly 8,000 more units than its two domestic rivals. Given their significantly more modest average monthly sales compared to the Xpander, a comeback for the two Toyota models is almost impossible with two months remaining in 2025.

If the Xpander maintains its segment sales crown for 2025, Mitsubishi will mark its seventh consecutive year as the top-selling brand in the B-segment multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) group. Meanwhile, Toyota will have placed second for the same number of years. Despite leading, the Xpander's sales for 2025 are nearly stagnant compared to the same period last year.
The most significant change in the MPV segment's market share landscape is the rise of the Honda BR-V. From being among the slowest-selling models, the Honda model climbed to third place in sales after 10 months.
Compared to the same period last year, the BR-V saw a sales increase of 17%, while the overall segment experienced a slight decrease of 2%. Besides the Honda model, the Suzuki XL7 was the only other model to increase sales (21%).
The two Korean models, the Kia Carens and Hyundai Stargazer, did not make a significant breakthrough amidst the overwhelming influence of their Japanese rivals. The Carens sold over 3,100 units, competing closely with the Honda BR-V. Meanwhile, the Stargazer was near the bottom of the segment's sales ranking.
