A traffic accident occurred on a main road in Tampumia Radda village, Belopa district, Luwu province, around 14:22 on 27/4. The two vehicles involved were a Honda Blade and a Yamaha Jupiter.
The incident began when the Honda Blade rider slowed down and stopped at a signalized intersection, according to a representative of Luwu police. However, the Yamaha rider, traveling in the same direction behind him, failed to stop and collided with the victim at high speed.
The impact was so severe that both the rider and the Honda motorcycle were propelled forward. The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The driver who caused the accident also suffered injuries.
The accident sparked debate, primarily concerning the failure of many road users to comply with legal regulations. For instance, in this case, had the victim worn a helmet, the injuries might have been less severe.
Police also urged residents to drive more carefully, especially when passing through intersections, always obey road signs, and reduce speed to prevent similar accidents. Additionally, motorcyclists should always wear helmets, regularly observe, and check rearview mirrors to assess potential situations.
