Vietnam's multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment in March 2026 saw a sales surge from two VinFast electric models, the Limo Green and VF MPV 7. These models have replaced traditional internal combustion engine vehicles such as the Mitsubishi Xpander and Toyota Innova Cross.
Experts assess that the rise of all-electric vehicles is reshaping the playing field in this segment, which for many years has been dominated by Japanese manufacturers.

According to VinFast's business report, the company delivered 6,795 Limo Green units in March, marking a 276% increase compared to the previous month. The Limo Green, a 7-seater MPV primarily for commercial services, is currently VinFast's best-selling model. Following it is the family version, the VF MPV 7, with 2,521 units sold, an increase of 116% compared to February.
Sales of the two VinFast models were several times higher than their 7-seater pure gasoline MPV rivals. Mitsubishi Xpander sold 1,763 units in March, while Toyota Innova Cross was in fourth place with 1,576 units, according to sales reports from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers' Association (VAMA).
From fifth place downwards, the sales gap widened significantly. Toyota Veloz Cross sold 719 units, and Honda BR-V sold 352 units. Models at the bottom of the list included the Suzuki XL7 hybrid with 196 units and the Toyota Avanza Premio with 74 units.

The sales report indicates a strong shift towards all-electric vehicles in Vietnam's 7-seater MPV segment. This category of vehicles is often used for commercial services or family needs, so users highly value practicality when choosing. Key factors include spacious interiors, diverse features, and optimized fuel costs.
In Vietnam, the VinFast Limo Green is priced at 749 million VND, and the VF MPV 7 at 819 million VND, not including incentives applied by the manufacturer.
