Thaco recently introduced a limited edition of the 408, drawing design inspiration from Peugeot's Motorsport activities at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a world-renowned automotive endurance race held annually in France. Peugeot has won the championship three times in the race's history.
The limited edition model is fully named Peugeot 408 Sport Edition, assembled in Vietnam. The company distributes a limited run of 100 vehicles with unique customization options.

For the exterior, customers can choose decorative details such as three stripes (mimicking lion claws) on the grille. The wheels and rear bumper also feature additional accent paint colors. These decorative paint colors are customizable by the customer, with each color corresponding to the concept of the five elements (metal, water, wood, fire, earth) in east asian culture.
On the side of the passenger door, a round badge identifies the special edition. This badge features a customer-selected signature and symbol. The GT version also includes an additional brand logo on the C-pillar.
Inside, customers can choose one of three interior colors: black, red, and brown. The seats feature a special edition identification logo on the headrest.
Aside from the aforementioned personalization details, the Peugeot 408 Sport Edition retains the interior and exterior design of the standard version. The special edition models are priced 20 million VND higher than the regular versions. Specifically, the Sport Edition Allure costs 1,039 billion VND, the Sport Edition Premium 1,139 billion VND, and the Sport Edition GT 1,289 billion VND.
Similar to the regular version, the Peugeot 408 Sport Edition comes with a 1.6 turbocharged gasoline engine producing 218 horsepower and 300 Nm of peak torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
The Peugeot 408 is positioned in the C-segment CUV category, competing with rivals such as the Mazda CX-5 (699-979 million VND) and the Honda CR-V (1,039-1,25 billion VND). However, this model distinguishes itself with a unique style that blends elements of a sedan, SUV, and hatchback. Notably, its C-pillar is curved, tapering towards the rear. The vehicle primarily targets young, distinctive customers who favor sporty coupe designs and have a special affection for the French brand.
