Toyota Vietnam has launched the hybrid version of the Land Cruiser, imported from Japan. Priced at 4,71 billion VND, the Land Cruiser hybrid is 130 million VND more expensive than the pure gasoline model. White color adds 20 million VND.

The overall exterior design of the Toyota Land Cruiser hybrid is similar to its gasoline counterpart. Minor adjustments distinguish the hybrid's front and rear bumpers.

Inside, the Land Cruiser hybrid maintains the same layout as the standard version. It features a three-row seating configuration, a 12,3-inch infotainment screen, 4-zone independent climate control, and wireless charging. The driver's seat offers 10-way power adjustment with heating and ventilation, while the front passenger seat provides similar features with 8-way power adjustment.

The primary distinction between the hybrid and pure gasoline versions lies in the powertrain. The Land Cruiser hybrid features electric power steering, unlike the gasoline version's hydraulic system. The hybrid variant adds an electric motor to the 3,5 V6 twin-turbo gasoline engine, achieving a combined output of 457 horsepower and 790 Nm of peak torque. It retains a 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Compared to the pure gasoline model, the hybrid version delivers 48 horsepower more and an additional 140 Nm of torque. Weighing 2,685 kg, the hybrid is approximately 165 kg heavier than the standard version. Its combined fuel consumption is around 10 liters/100 km, a nearly 23% reduction compared to the pure gasoline variant, meaning the hybrid achieves a 76% fuel consumption ratio relative to the gasoline model.

According to the Ministry of Construction's criteria for Special Consumption Tax incentives, which compare the fuel consumption ratio (R) of hybrid vehicles (FCeq) to the average fuel consumption of pure gasoline internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles (FCconv) of the same cylinder capacity, Toyota's parallel hybrid model does not qualify for tax benefits because its R exceeds 70%.

The Land Cruiser is the seventh electrified model from Toyota in Vietnam. However, the current hybrid vehicle portfolio now consists of only six models, as Toyota discontinued the Altis in mid-2026.

The Land Cruiser competes in the large SUV segment alongside models like the Lynk & Co 900 and Mazda CX-90. However, with its body-on-frame construction, strong off-road character, and a price exceeding 4,5 billion VND, the Toyota model currently faces no direct competitors.

Toyota currently leads hybrid vehicle sales in Vietnam, offering the most diverse product selection. As of July, the Japanese automaker sold 9,231 hybrid vehicles, capturing over 50% of the overall hybrid segment market share.
