QJ SRV 400 VS: Chinese cruiser motorcycle priced at 135 million dong

The SRV 400 VS makes its debut in Vietnam, featuring a classic, muscular design, a 385cc engine, and 34 horsepower.

On 27/11/2024, Mforce Bike Holdings Sdn Bhd, Malaysia's largest motorcycle distributor, launched its first store in Vietnam through its subsidiary, Mforce Vietnam. Located in TP HCM, the store offers a range of models from various brands, including QJ Motor, Voge, Benelli, and Brixton.

QJ Motor entered the Vietnamese market with two cruiser models: the SRV 400 VS and the SRV 600 V. The QJ SRV 400 VS is the more accessible option, priced at 135 million dong and imported from China.

It is powered by a 385cc engine.

The rear suspension features twin coil-over shocks.

It has a 2-cylinder engine.

It is equipped with front and rear anti-lock braking system.

The SRV 400 VS boasts a classic, masculine design with robust, muscular details, drawing comparisons to Harley-Davidson cruisers. Its wheelbase measures 1,520 mm, slightly longer than the Honda Rebel 500 and on par with the Harley-Davidson Sporter S. However, both the Japanese and American models feature significantly larger engine displacements than the QJ offering.

Measuring 2,210 mm in length, 830 mm in width, and 1,100 mm in height, the SRV 400 VS offers a ground clearance of 160 mm. Its 720 mm seat height accommodates most adult Vietnamese riders. All lighting on the SRV 400 VS is LED, including a round headlight with hook-shaped LED daytime running lights and classic rearview mirrors. The motorcycle features an LCD speedometer and a 16-liter fuel tank.

The front suspension consists of upside-down forks, reinforced with external hard plastic covers for a more muscular appearance, while the rear uses twin coil-over shocks. Both front and rear wheels are 16-inch units, equipped with single disc brakes and an anti-lock braking system. Powering the QJ SRV 400 VS is a DOHC 2-cylinder engine with a 385cc displacement, producing 34 horsepower and 35 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

In Vietnam, the SRV 400 VS currently faces no direct competitors, as most cruisers in its segment feature engine displacements of 450cc or more. Royal Enfield previously offered smaller displacement models but has since discontinued sales. In a higher segment, the Honda Rebel 500 is priced at 181,3 million dong, and the Kawasaki Eliminator 500 at 182,8 million dong, both imported from Thailand.

While the QJ model offers an accessible price point, its status as a new brand with unproven quality poses a challenge in attracting customers. QJ Motor, established in 1985, is one of China's largest motorcycle manufacturers. In 2005, the company acquired Benelli, a once-renowned Italian motorcycle brand.
