A railway construction canopy collapsed onto a Suzuki Swift around 1:47 p.m. on 18/11. The incident occurred on Ring Road 2 near Batu Caves, Selangor state, where traffic was heavy.
The female driver of the Suzuki Swift miraculously escaped injury and was assisted by bystanders before rescue teams arrived. No injuries were reported in the incident, which is suspected to have been caused by a nearby crane striking the canopy.
The Selangor Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) released a statement on 19/11, indicating the incident happened during a subcontractor's paint thickness inspection. Preliminary investigations showed the structure was a temporary canopy, meant only to prevent falling objects and not designed to withstand impact. The Public Works Department promptly ordered the removal of the remaining steel structure from the site to prevent future accidents.
