The Tax Department recently issued Decision No. 2226 on 30/6 regarding the adjusted and supplemented registration fee price list for cars and motorcycles. This updated price list serves as the basis for registration fee collection starting 30/6.
The adjustments affect 323 car models, primarily passenger vehicles with fewer than 9 seats (310 vehicles), including 167 imported and 143 domestically manufactured or assembled cars. This update also includes many electric vehicle models, with 24 imported and 26 domestically produced or assembled.

For motorcycles, 123 models have updated prices, with 53 imported and 70 assembled domestically. Most models are priced similarly to their market retail prices. Notably, the Honda CUV:e, intended for lease rather than sale by Honda, has a declared price of 158.6 million VND. Domestically produced and assembled motorcycles include 27 electric models, mainly from VinFast and Yadea.
Starting in July, vehicle registration processes will undergo several changes, coinciding with the merger of localities. Decree 175, issued on 30/6, eliminates the 5% registration fee for motorcycles in major cities, implementing a uniform 2% rate across all provinces and cities. For instance, residents of Hanoi and TP HCM previously paid 2.5 million VND in registration fees for a 50-million VND motorcycle. From 1/7 onward, this fee is reduced to 1 million VND.
The 1% fee remains unchanged for motorcycles undergoing second or subsequent registrations (used vehicles). The Ministry of Finance stated that this new regulation will prevent residents in merged localities from facing higher fees if the old rates were applied.
