The incident occurred at 9:00 AM on 24/8 in Bueng Phra commune, Phitsanulok province, on a road parallel to a railway line. Dashcam footage from a passing vehicle captured the moment a woman on a motorbike was knocked down by a steel bar. The bar, extending significantly from a pickup truck parked perpendicularly on the sidewalk, jutted into the roadway. The motorcyclist apparently failed to notice the obstruction directly in front of her and showed no signs of evasive action.
The metal bar swept the woman off her motorbike, causing her to fall backward and hit her head and back on the road. Her motorbike continued for a short distance before toppling over.
The victim, Ms. Toi, sustained an injury to her chin, requiring 10 stitches. Doctors are currently monitoring and assessing other potential injuries.
Local police reported that the pickup truck was carrying an oversized steel bar without any red flag or warning sign. The accident occurred just seconds after the driver had exited the vehicle to open his house gate.
Authorities have initially charged the driver with offenses including: carrying oversized cargo, failing to ensure traffic safety, and negligent driving. Depending on the official assessment of the victim's injuries, police will consider additional charges for causing serious injury due to negligence. The driver has agreed to cover all medical expenses and motorbike repair costs. Ms. Toi remains hospitalized for treatment.
