Tata Motors uses pothole-ridden road for EV marketing

Tata Motors placed a yellow, caution-sign-style frame on a pothole-filled road, declaring it "perfect for an EV".

A recent post on X generated buzz and success for Tata Motors' marketing team, promoting their newly launched Harrier.ev.

The eye-catching frame proclaimed, "Tata.ev. The perfect road for Harrier.ev". It highlighted the large potholes in the road behind it. The striking yellow and black colors grabbed the attention of passing drivers. This unusual approach garnered significant praise.

One commenter remarked, "A bold move, Tata. Who needs smooth roads when your Harrier.ev can star in a pothole action movie?". Another wrote, "Forget Dubai desert safaris, come to India for a pothole safari".

One person humorously observed, "This is Indian marketing genius! 'The perfect road for Harrier.ev' because nothing tests an EV's suspension like lunar terrain! Tata is basically saying, 'Buy our car, it's like off-roading on Mars!' Only in India can potholes become a selling point. Brilliant!".

The Tata Harrier.ev is the brand's newest flagship electric SUV. It starts at 2,149,000 rupees (24,400 USD) for the standard Adventure 65 version and goes up to 3,023,000 rupees (34,300 USD) for the Empowered 75 Stealth version. This SUV competes with the Mahindra XEV 9E in the Indian electric SUV market.

Tata Motors offers the Harrier.ev with two drivetrain options. The rear-wheel drive (RWD) version has a single motor on the rear axle, producing 238 horsepower. The all-wheel drive (AWD) version has two motors with a combined output of 396 horsepower and 504 Nm of torque.

A key highlight of the Harrier.ev is its full-time 4-wheel drive capability. It offers six modes: Normal, Snow/Grass, Mud, Sand, Rough Rock, and Custom. The vehicle features an Off-Road assistance system, which helps control torque in challenging terrain like mud or rough rocks.

Other notable features of the Harrier.ev include a 540-degree camera, multi-link rear suspension, and 600 mm of water wading capability, an impressive figure for an electric SUV. The feature list also includes a 14.53-inch Samsung Neo QLED touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, a digital IRVM night vision camera with integrated dashcam, and a digital key.
