Just over a month after the inauguration of its car factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, Vinfast has launched two electric SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7, marking a new step in the Vietnamese automaker's global expansion. According to Vinfast, these two models are designed to meet the demands of Indian consumers, as the electric vehicle market there continues to grow.

The VF 6's design remains largely unchanged from the global version. It's available in three trims: Earth, Wind, and Wind Infinity, with two interior color options. The starting price is over 18,700 USD. The VF 6 in India features a 59.6 kWh battery, allowing for a fast charge from 10% to 70% in 25 minutes, and a maximum range of 468 km, as per ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) standards. It has a wheelbase of 2,730 mm and a ground clearance of 190 mm.
The key difference between the three VF 6 versions in India lies in their power output. The VF 6 Earth boasts 130 kW of power and 250 Nm of torque, while the VF 6 Wind and Wind Infinity offer a higher output of 150 kW and 310 Nm. All versions come equipped with independent suspension, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, power-adjustable driver's seat, and push-button gear selector. Higher trims feature an 8-speaker sound system, a color head-up display (HUD), and level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems). The top-of-the-line version includes a panoramic sunroof.

The VF 7 has a starting price of 23,700 USD and is available in five versions (Earth, Wind, Wind Infinity, Sky, Sky Infinity), with two battery options, interior color choices, and front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The VF 7 Earth utilizes a 59.6 kWh battery and a motor producing 130 kW and 250 Nm of torque; the Wind version features a 70.8 kWh battery and a PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) generating 150 kW and 310 Nm. The VF 7 Sky has two motors with a combined output of 260 kW and 500 Nm, coupled with all-wheel drive. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.
The Wind Infinity and Sky Infinity trims add a fixed panoramic sunroof, creating a more spacious and premium feel.
Other features of the VF 7 include: 19-inch wheels, power-adjustable driver's seat, a 6 or 8-speaker sound system, level 2 ADAS, distraction mitigation system, driver monitoring camera, and synthetic leather interior. According to ARAI certification, the range for the VF 7 versions are 438 km for the Earth, 532 km for the Wind, and 510 km for the Sky.
Prior to launching its first two models manufactured in India, Vinfast took steps to enhance the user experience. The Vietnamese electric car company partnered with banks and financial institutions to offer flexible financing solutions; it also collaborated with partners to establish a network of charging stations and after-sales services. In the battery recycling sector, Vinfast is working with BatX Energies to build a circular battery value chain.
Vinfast aims to have 35 sales outlets and 26 service centers across 27 cities in India this year. The Vinfast factory in the world's third-largest auto market represents a total investment of 2 billion USD, with a production capacity of 150,000 vehicles per year. In the initial phase, the Vietnamese automaker invested 500 million USD to assemble the VF 6 and VF 7.
