VinFast offers up to 237 million VND in incentives for gasoline car owners switching to electric vehicles

VinFast is offering hundreds of millions of Vietnamese dong in incentives to encourage drivers to trade in their gasoline cars for electric vehicles, with the highest incentive being for the VF 9, at an event held at My Dinh National Stadium.

VinFast's event series takes place as the automotive market, especially in major urban areas, is shifting towards electric vehicles. To facilitate this transition, VinFast partnered with used car dealerships, setting up booths within the event venue so attendees can easily sell their gasoline cars and switch to electric models.

Thanh Binh, 37, from Dich Vong Ward, brought her 2019 Mazda3 Luxury, with about 54,000 km on it, to the event, hoping to upgrade to the electric SUV VF 8. "A few days ago, I listed my car online, hoping to get around 429 million VND, but most showrooms offered very low prices, some below 400 million VND, so I didn't agree," Binh said. "My family also wanted a new VF 8, so I came here to explore, becoming one of the first customers at this event."

After inspection, the used car dealership at the event bought Binh's 2019 Mazda3 for 429 million VND. Upon placing a deposit for a new VF 8, she received a 70 million VND cash discount (for trading in her gasoline car); a 4% cash discount on the vehicle price; and 50 million VND (Vinclub points) for registering in Hanoi. Additionally, she received a 12% registration fee exemption and free battery charging until 6/2027.

"The total value of the incentives for my VF 8 is nearly 200 million VND, and the support process was quick, easy, and transparent," Binh said at the event's most popular area. According to VinFast's announced incentive program, the vehicle with the highest support level is the VF 9, with a total value of over 237 million VND when registered in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. Other electric vehicle models like the VF 3, VF 5, VF 6, and VF 7 also receive similar incentives.

At the event, VinFast's display area attracted many visitors, with the Limo Green MPV as the centerpiece, drawing the attention of many ride-hailing drivers. This was also the first time the Limo Green was officially displayed by VinFast, with the first deliveries expected in August. "My friends and I came to check out VinFast's new 7-seater electric vehicle because the company offers many incentive programs, especially when partnering with Xanh SM Platform," said Bui Huu Cuong, 42, from Thanh Tri Commune, a ride-hailing driver.

The all-electric MPV is designed by VinFast for families or transportation services, priced at 749 million VND including the battery. With its 7-seat configuration, the vehicle is larger than the Mitsubishi Xpander and Toyota Veloz, comparable in size to the Hyundai Custin. According to VinFast's specifications, the Limo Green is equipped with a 201 horsepower motor, 280 Nm of torque, and front-wheel drive. The included LFP battery provides a range of up to 450 km on a single charge, with a charging time of 30 minutes from 10% to 70%.

Adding excitement to the event was a VF 3 drift performance by professional racers from the D1VN Team. Two VF 3s were modified for the performance, and some pre-registered guests were able to ride along with the racers and take photos with the unique electric vehicle.

In addition, the organizers designed a special off-road course for attendees to experience the VF 7 and VF 8 electric SUVs. With their high-torque electric motors, the two SUVs could easily climb steep slopes under the supervision of VinFast experts. Attendees also experienced the vehicles' off-road capabilities, including slalom maneuvers.

"These experiences helped me better understand the vehicle's capabilities compared to just a short test drive in the city. I was impressed with the VF 7's sporty handling, responsive steering, and the 'push-back' feeling during acceleration, something usually found only in gasoline sports cars costing billions of dong," said Viet Pham, 34, after the off-road test drive.

VinFast's "Trade-in Gasoline for Electric" program took place from 11-13/7 at My Dinh National Stadium, Hanoi. Besides the aforementioned activities, VinFast also offered gifts to attendees who participated in minigames and discussions with experts and experienced electric vehicle users.
