Volvo S90 and XC60 2025 Updated Versions Launched in Vietnam

The mid-cycle refresh for the S90 and XC60 features refined interior and exterior designs, with starting prices close to 2,3 billion VND.

On 19/11, Volvo's distributor in Vietnam introduced the new S90 and XC60, bringing several design and convenience upgrades. These vehicles continue to be imported from Malaysia, similar to the previous generation.

The 2025 Volvo S90 maintains its understated luxury, now appearing more refined overall. The Swedish model's character contrasts with the smooth, flashy Mercedes E-class and the lively, sporty BMW Series 5.

Leather-upholstered seats.

The most significant exterior change for the S90 is the redesigned grille, featuring chrome-plated diagonal mesh lines. The Thor's Hammer daytime running lights are now slimmer. The front and rear bumpers of the new S90 also receive subtle refinements compared to the previous model. The T-shaped taillights are slimmer yet sharper. The vehicle is equipped with 20-inch wheels and adaptive air suspension, a significant upgrade over its predecessor.

The interior of the 2025 Volvo S90 retains its distinct character, with wood and leather materials in subdued, elegant tones throughout the cabin. Luxury accents come from handcrafted details such as the crystal gear selector and vinyl leather on the dashboard. The infotainment screen in the S90 has increased in size from 9,7 inches to 11,2 inches. Volvo states that the screen's information and graphics processing performance is many times faster than before, thanks to the new-generation Snapdragon Cockpit platform and the Google Automotive Service (GAS) operating system. The vehicle continues to use the Bowers & Wilkins sound system.

The 2025 S90 is sold in one version: the Plug-in Hybrid Ultra. Its PHEV powertrain, similar to the previous generation, combines a 2,0-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor, producing 462 horsepower and 709 Nm of peak torque. This is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. In pure electric mode, the S90 can travel up to 98 km.

Similar to the S90, the 2025 Volvo XC60 also receives subtle exterior refinements, particularly to the grille with its chrome-plated diagonal slats. The rear of the vehicle remains largely unchanged. The XC60's interior mirrors that of the S90. The 11,2-inch infotainment screen is the most notable change, alongside new materials for details that exude a luxurious, gentle style.

Volvo's compact SUV still offers two engine options: a mild-hybrid (MHEV) for the Ultra version and a PHEV for the Plug-in Hybrid Ultra version. The PHEV type in the XC60 is similar to the S90, with the battery providing a pure electric range of 89 km. The MHEV version of the new XC60 still features a 2,0-liter turbocharged engine with a 48 V battery pack, though performance is slightly reduced compared to the previous generation. The new engine, coded B5, produces 249 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The previous B6 engine was more powerful at 320 horsepower and 400 Nm of pulling force.

Both the new S90 and XC60 remain among the most technologically advanced in their segments regarding safety. The vehicles feature technologies such as lane keeping assist, front cross traffic alert, rear collision warning, and a surround view camera.

The Volvo S90 competes with rivals like the Mercedes E-class (2,449-3,209 billion VND) and BMW Series 5 (2,589-3,099 billion VND). The XC60 offers an alternative to models such as the Mercedes GLC (2,299-2,799 billion VND) and BMW X3 (2,279-2,629 billion VND). All these BMW and Mercedes models are domestically assembled, while the Volvo S90 and XC60 are imported.

The pricing for Volvo models is as follows:

Model Version Price (billion VND)
S90 Plug-in Hybrid Ultra 2,75
XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Ultra 2,75
Ultra 2,299
