Aeon Vietnam in top 3 sustainable businesses

Aeon Vietnam ranked among the top 3 sustainable businesses in the trade and services sector for three consecutive years, thanks to improved corporate governance and environmental protection initiatives.

The announcement ceremony for "Sustainable Businesses in Vietnam" (CSI) 2025 took place on the afternoon of 5/12 in Hanoi. The event was organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD).

Based on the assessment results of the CSI 2025 Index, Aeon Vietnam was honored among the "Top 3 Sustainable Businesses in the Trade and Services Sector" for the third consecutive year. This achievement reflects Aeon's efforts to enhance corporate governance efficiency, implement environmental protection initiatives, and strengthen its commitment to community development through comprehensive social activities.

An Aeon Vietnam representative stated that the company's sustainable development strategy is built upon three main pillars: economic, environmental, and social. Under the economic pillar, the business aims to contribute to community sustainable development by collaborating closely with local suppliers, expanding markets for Vietnamese products, developing private label product lines, and enhancing supply chain capabilities, thereby fostering long-term economic growth.

This objective is achieved through activities such as: sharing Aeon's product technical standards and requirements; promoting trade and connecting supply with demand; expanding opportunities to access and introduce goods to customers; and seeking partnerships with suppliers to develop Aeon's private label products.

Furthermore, acting as a bridge between manufacturers and consumers, Aeon Vietnam supports the community's journey towards green growth and environmental protection. To minimize negative environmental impacts from its business operations, the company reduces single-use plastic waste, aiming for 80% of transactions to refuse single-use plastic bags by 2030. Concurrently, Aeon focuses on cultivating a generation of sustainable consumers through environmental education programs. Local biodiversity conservation is also a key activity Aeon Vietnam targets.

Following the sustainable environmental development pillar, under the social pillar, the company focuses on 4 objectives: nurturing the younger generation; promoting physical and mental well-being; disaster relief; and fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion (D.E.I).

Sharing the strategy for the upcoming period, an Aeon Vietnam representative stated that the business is committed to continuing to spread the spirit of sustainable development to its partners and the community. This approach aims to create momentum for building a harmonious business ecosystem, balancing economic benefits with environmental protection responsibilities.

The "Sustainable Businesses in Vietnam" announcement ceremony is an annual event, held for 10 consecutive years, implemented under a resolution by the Government Office. The program increasingly affirms the value of the CSI Index within Vietnam's business community.

The CSI 2025 comprises 145 indicators. These indicators are divided into two levels: basic and advanced. Specifically, basic indicators include Core (C) indicators, accounting for 60%, and Advanced (A) indicators, making up 40%. Additionally, the CSI 2025 Index has been updated and adjusted to align with Vietnamese policies and legal compliance requirements for 2025, as well as new international sustainable reporting standards and practices, refined to suit Vietnamese conditions and laws, integrating environmental, social, and governance (E-S-G) factors.
