BIDV boosts Vietnam - South Korea economic cooperation

The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) participated in the Vietnam - South Korea Economic Forum and signed three cooperation agreements to foster collaboration between the two countries on 23/4.

The Vietnam - South Korea Economic Forum was one of the key diplomatic and economic events held during the South Korean President's official visit to Vietnam.

At the forum, BIDV CEO Le Ngoc Lam joined leaders from prominent South Korean and Vietnamese corporations, including Samsung, LG, SK, Lotte, PVN, EVN, THACO, and Sun Group. They discussed cooperation opportunities in the new phase of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.

Speaking at the event, Le Ngoc Lam stated that BIDV currently provides comprehensive financial services to over 10,500 foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises in Vietnam, including nearly 2,000 South Korean businesses. With Hana Bank as a strategic shareholder holding almost 15% of its shares, BIDV has a strong foundation to support South Korean investors throughout their investment and production activities.

Additionally, the State Bank of Vietnam designated BIDV as the settlement bank for Vietnam - South Korea cross-border QR payment services. The bank also offers remittance services for the Vietnamese community in South Korea, strengthening financial connectivity, trade, and optimizing experiences for citizens and businesses of both countries.

At the Vietnam - South Korea Business and Science Technology Forum, BIDV signed memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with three South Korean partners. These agreements aim to establish comprehensive cooperation platforms in infrastructure and high-end real estate sectors.

Specifically, BIDV, Hana Bank, and KIND signed a cooperation agreement to provide financial solutions for large-scale infrastructure projects in Vietnam. According to a bank representative, this partnership expands development potential in the infrastructure sector while strengthening the partnership among the parties.

In parallel, BIDV also signed an MOU with GS Engineering & Construction to offer financial solutions for the Zeit River Thu Thiem project. This collaboration will also support the company in its development plans within the Vietnamese market.

With iMarket Korea, BIDV focuses on consulting, investment connection, and providing financial-banking services for the K-Tech Industrial Park project in Phu Tho, as well as other corporate projects in Vietnam. This partnership aims to attract investment and foster modern, sustainable industrial infrastructure development.
