Cocoon's sustainable strategy for vegan cosmetics

Launched over 10 years ago, Cocoon established a 100% vegan cosmetics model, using no animal-derived ingredients and conducting no animal testing.

In recent years, sustainable development has become a core strategy for many Vietnamese businesses. This concept encompasses more than just transparent production and product quality; it also extends to commitments concerning community, environment, and social issues.

In Vietnam's beauty market, Cocoon stands out as a brand committed to "sustainable development rooted in a vegan philosophy." Its products hold international certifications from PETA, Cruelty Free International, and Vegan Society – organizations that uphold rigorous standards for vegan and cruelty-free cosmetics.

As Vietnamese consumers increasingly prioritize tangible experiences and concrete actions, international certifications, while necessary, are not enough to foster lasting trust. Businesses must, therefore, demonstrate their commitments through practical activities that resonate with the social context.

In addition to product development rooted in science and technology, since 2021, Cocoon has launched various animal welfare programs, including: "joining hands to protect bears", "joining hands to end elephant riding", and "joining hands to rescue stray dogs and cats". A company representative emphasized, "These activities are an integral part of our vegan philosophy strategy, not merely a communication message."

In early december, Cocoon announced its second collaboration with the Animals Asia Foundation (AAF) to launch the "joining hands to rescue stray dogs and cats" program. The company contributed 500 million VND to animal welfare initiatives in Vietnam, encompassing: food, supplies, and medical support for rescue shelters; 20,000 doses of rabies vaccine for dogs and cats; organized vaccinations in high-risk localities; school outreach; and complimentary veterinary check-ups.

Partnering with established non-governmental organizations in Vietnam helps businesses boost the transparency and impact of their social commitments. A Cocoon representative stated that collaborating with AAF ensures programs are executed systematically, aligning with Vietnam's real-world conditions and needs.

In an increasingly competitive cosmetics market, marked by a surge in sustainability-focused marketing, businesses that consistently align their strategies, commitments, and practical actions are better positioned to build enduring consumer trust.

"We continue to embrace a sustainable development approach rooted in a vegan philosophy, intensifying practical, locally relevant initiatives within the domestic market," added the Cocoon representative.
