This award recognizes CUBHCM's efforts in developing a digital financial platform that offers a convenient, safe, and accessible experience for users in Vietnam. VJ Lu, General Director of Cathay United Bank - Ho Chi Minh City branch (CUBHCM), highlighted a core feature of the CUB Vietnam application: its credit limit provision. This allows customers to register once and disburse funds multiple times. The credit limit can be approved for up to 5 years, with a maximum of 40 million dong.
The entire process occurs online, allowing for approval and disbursement in about 5 minutes. "Based on the vision 'Cathay takes care of everything,' our goal is to provide easy credit access and enhance financial inclusion in Vietnam's digital economy," said VJ Lu.

Launched in 2024, the CUB Vietnam application is integral to Cathay United Bank's (CUB) strategy to be the "Best Financial Partner in Asia." By providing fast, secure, and digital personal lending services, the application meets Vietnam's demand for efficient financial solutions. The mobile-first platform removes in-person assessments and cumbersome paperwork, improving credit accessibility.
Hung Yun Liu, Head of Personal Banking at CUBHCM, noted the application's positive market reception since its deployment. The platform now has over 850,000 registered users and 5.9 million downloads. "We will continue to leverage technology to enhance financial accessibility and accelerate digital finance growth across Southeast Asia," she stated.
The year 2025 marks Cathay United Bank's 20th anniversary in Vietnam. During this time, the bank expanded operations from corporate banking to retail and digital services, recognizing Vietnam as a strategic market for its Asian development. Cathay United Bank is a member of Cathay Financial Holdings, a Taiwan-based financial group with over 60 years of operation. It currently manages over 400 billion USD in assets and operates nearly 1,000 branches across Asia. In Vietnam, the bank maintains a long-term development focus: service innovation, customer experience enhancement, and local market engagement.
