GHN opens 85,500 sq m transit center

Giao Hang Nhanh (GHN) has launched its Hung Yen transit center, capable of processing over 165,000 orders per hour, aiming to expand its nationwide logistics infrastructure.

The Hung Yen transit center, spanning an area of 85,500 sq m, is strategically located on the QL5B - CT04 transport axis. This position connects Hanoi with Hai Phong and Mong Cai, significantly reducing transit times for goods between the capital, the northern region's largest seaport, and cross-border transport routes, according to GHN.

Valued at VND 1,000 billion, the facility features a closed-loop operational model. Its receiving, sorting, packaging, and storage areas are seamlessly integrated. This design optimizes goods flow, minimizes transit times, and enhances order processing efficiency across the entire system.

At the opening event on 14/1 in Hung Yen, Luong Duy Hoai, GHN's general director, stated that this represents the company's largest investment in its 13 years of operation. The center integrates accumulated operational experience with investments in automated infrastructure and a highly skilled workforce. This combination allows for the simultaneous processing of diverse goods, from small to heavy, on a single platform. "This model optimizes costs, increases goods circulation efficiency, and creates sustainable value for the logistics ecosystem and the local community", Hoai said.

Also at the event, Le Thi Doan Trinh, deputy general director of human resources, elaborated on the company's growth. She noted that concurrent investment in infrastructure and high-quality human resources enhances the company's competitiveness and contributes to society and the surrounding community.

A highlight of the center is its integrated automated technology and artificial intelligence ecosystem. Specifically, an automated sorting system for small and medium-sized goods, combined with a dedicated process for heavy items over 20 kg, enables the center to achieve a maximum capacity of over 165,000 orders per hour. This is approximately three times the capacity of manual methods.

The international-standard automated conveyor system reduces sorting errors by up to 90%. It also optimizes operational costs and human resources. Simultaneously, GHN uses AI for forecasting and coordination, analyzing goods traffic by warehouse and shift. This provides early warnings for potential overload and supports appropriate staff adjustments.

Approximately 800 AI cameras are deployed throughout the center, monitoring all goods handling operations in real time. The system issues immediate alerts upon detecting procedural discrepancies. AI analyzes operational data to propose improvements, enhancing safety and service quality.

Additionally, the center is equipped with new generation AGV and AMR robots. These robots have self-navigation capabilities and optimize their movement routes. Operating continuously, they save about 50% of internal transport time and shorten order processing times.

Beyond small and medium-sized items, the Hung Yen transit center is designed to efficiently handle heavy goods over 20 kg, with a capacity of approximately 86,000 parcels daily. Thanks to a multi-tier conveyor system and real-time management software, the logistics unit has reduced processing time for this category by about 40%, increasing accuracy to 99.7%.

According to the company, standardizing the bulky goods handling process enables GHN to expand its logistics services for B2B customers. It also meets the increasing demands of e-commerce.

GHN considers the activation of the Hung Yen transit center a significant step in its strategy to invest in modern logistics infrastructure. This center serves as a key transit hub in the northern region, contributing to increased order processing capacity, optimized costs, and enhanced service quality nationwide.

GHN expects the center to become a core link in its long-term operational network. It aims to support the sustainable development of the e-commerce and heavy logistics ecosystem, working towards "fast delivery, optimal cost" for customers.
