On 25/4, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc awarded investment certificates for 4 projects in the High-Tech Park (SHTP), totaling over 1,2 billion USD.
Among these, a consortium of three Singaporean investors, including Hathor, Frontier, and Evolution, invested nearly 501 million USD to build a hyperscale data center with a capacity of 52 MW it load. This facility will provide neutral infrastructure for storage services, cloud computing, and big data processing.
Darren Webb, Chief Executive Officer of Evolution Data Centres, stated that preparations for this project took three years. According to him, the global AI race is active, and Vietnam has the potential to catch up, even to lead Southeast Asia.

The second project is a data center complex invested by Starmason, with a total capital exceeding 480 million USD. The complex has a designed capacity of 60 MW it load, directly serving AI and cloud computing needs. Once completed, the project will meet the demand for data infrastructure in both the domestic and regional markets.
The remaining two projects are in the fields of semiconductor microchips and microbiological technology. Nguyen Ky Phung, Head of the SHTP Management Board, assessed that attracting 4 projects demonstrates the local area's attractive investment environment for high-tech corporations.
Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc committed to providing maximum support regarding procedures and the business environment, and is ready to work with investors to resolve any difficulties arising during project implementation.
The emergence of billion-dollar data center projects in Ho Chi Minh City aligns with the general regional trend. According to Cushman & Wakefield, Vietnam is emerging as a notable digital infrastructure market in the region due to competitive construction costs, averaging 7,2 million USD per MW it load.
Currently, the total operational data center capacity in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is approximately 73 MW it load, with an additional 137 MW it load expected by 2030.
