Savannah is a critical link in Maersk’s expanding US network. The city hosts the port of Savannah, one of North America's fastest-growing maritime gateways. The new station’s location near interstates I-95 and I-16 offers convenient connections to major markets in the Southeastern United States, including Atlanta; Jacksonville, Florida; Charleston, South Carolina; and Charlotte, North Carolina.
According to Maersk, the new road freight station will complement existing contract logistics centers in Savannah and follows recent road transload points opened in Lake City, Georgia, and Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas. These additions contribute to forming an integrated service ecosystem in the region.
Maersk currently operates over 65 road freight facilities across North America and continues to invest in regional hubs that connect directly to global trade lanes. The company stated that the expanding network aims to enhance supply chain visibility and increase flexibility for businesses through a single point of contact for door-to-door service.
