Maersk opens new road freight station near Savannah port

Maersk’s new road freight station features three unloading bays and a specialized fleet, facilitating easier and more convenient transportation.

Maersk, the transport and logistics group, has launched a new road freight station in Savannah, Georgia, United States, further expanding its rapidly growing logistics network in the US market. The new facility aims to shorten delivery times within the region.

The station spans approximately 1,858 square meters, featuring three unloading bays and a dedicated vehicle fleet to handle pickup and delivery operations in the Savannah market. Maersk stated that the facility is designed to offer customers enhanced speed, reliability, and control.

Savannah is a critical link in Maersk’s expanding US network. The city hosts the port of Savannah, one of North America's fastest-growing maritime gateways. The new station’s location near interstates I-95 and I-16 offers convenient connections to major markets in the Southeastern United States, including Atlanta; Jacksonville, Florida; Charleston, South Carolina; and Charlotte, North Carolina.

According to Maersk, the new road freight station will complement existing contract logistics centers in Savannah and follows recent road transload points opened in Lake City, Georgia, and Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas. These additions contribute to forming an integrated service ecosystem in the region.

Maersk currently operates over 65 road freight facilities across North America and continues to invest in regional hubs that connect directly to global trade lanes. The company stated that the expanding network aims to enhance supply chain visibility and increase flexibility for businesses through a single point of contact for door-to-door service.

Maersk (A.P. Moller–Maersk) is a Danish multinational logistics and shipping group, headquartered in Denmark. It operates in container shipping, integrated logistics, and supply chain management. With a global network and diverse service portfolio, Maersk aims to provide comprehensive transport solutions, seamlessly connecting international trade lanes. The company currently ranks 7th among the Top 50 largest transport companies worldwide, as rated by Transport Topics.
