MICT handled its 3 millionth container on 22/12, while servicing the vessel Ever Bliss, operated by Evergreen Marine, carrying cargo for Universal Robina Group.
Christian Lozano, MICT's Chief Executive Officer, stated that this achievement reflects the port's efforts to enhance operational efficiency and expand capacity to meet increasing demand. He added, "Handling 3 million TEU demonstrates that MICT has kept pace with market growth through continuous operational improvements and expansion investments."

According to Lozano, the port maintained service quality during peak season despite a sharp increase in cargo volume, demonstrating high operational capabilities.
Over the past year, MICT invested significantly in equipment and infrastructure. These investments included deploying a hybrid RTG crane system, adding in-port tractors to boost productivity, and piloting electric terminal tractors as part of its modernization program.
Currently, construction of the port's Berth 8 is underway. This project features a 300 m quay and a 12 ha yard area, with 6,5 ha already operational. The new berth is designed with a depth of 15 m, capable of accommodating container vessels with a capacity of 18,000 TEU. 3 quay cranes are expected to be delivered in 2027.
Upon completion of the expansion, MICT's annual operating capacity is projected to increase to 3,5 million TEU.
"Our priority is to maintain stable, efficient service and ensure smooth cargo flow as throughput continues to increase," Lozano added.
MICT currently handles approximately 70% of the total container throughput through Manila port. It is the Philippines' largest and busiest container port, serving as the main gateway for the nation's import and export goods.
