Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony along the Samruddhi Mahamarg expressway in Wadhgaon, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the investment's role in elevating Nagpur to a major logistics hub. "The government is committed to providing international standard infrastructure, enabling businesses to transport goods efficiently and reduce costs," he stated. "With XSIO, Nagpur will gain further momentum to become a national logistics center."
Fadnavis noted that the project aligns with the state's logistics strategy, which aims to reduce transport expenses and strengthen industrial corridors. Phase one involved a total investment of 700 crore rupees (approximately 78,4 million USD). Phase two, which recently commenced, spans over 420,000 square meters with a capital of 1,100 crore rupees (over 123 million USD). He added that Nagpur's "Zero Mile" location is regaining its strategic importance due to the development of high-speed connectivity networks.
The state leader also emphasized the integration of logistics infrastructure with new technology. "We are combining logistics with blockchain to drive positive transformation for the industry," he explained.
The ceremony saw attendance from government representatives, state parliamentarians, and leaders from XSIO and Blackstone. The investing entities anticipate that the park will stimulate the growth of warehousing, ancillary industries, and the broader supply chain ecosystem around Nagpur.
The investment agreement encompasses numerous district-level projects, positioning the XSIO-Blackstone consortium as one of Maharashtra's largest private investors in logistics infrastructure. Officials indicated that the number of jobs created could further increase as the project expands into subsequent phases.
