The very large crude carrier AGIOS FANOURIOS I, transporting nearly 2 million barrels of Basrah Medium crude oil from Iraq, arrived at Nghi Son port yesterday, according to information from Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN).
PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) imported the shipment for the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical (NSRP) complex, ensuring raw material supply for domestic petroleum production.

According to PVN, this imported crude oil supply contributes to maintaining the complex's stable operations, securing the domestic petroleum production and supply chain, and national energy security.
PVOIL Singapore (PVOSN), a PVOIL subsidiary specializing in crude oil and petroleum product trading in the international market, supplied the shipment.
PVOIL currently serves as a key link connecting global crude oil sources to Vietnam, supporting the processing activities of domestic refineries. Alongside other entities within the PVN ecosystem, the company participates in the value chain from exploration and exploitation to crude oil processing and energy product distribution.
The arrival of this oil shipment in Nghi Son occurs amid ongoing impacts on the Strait of Hormuz, the world's vital energy shipping lane, from recent US-Iran tensions and security instability in the Middle East. Most crude oil exported from Iraq must pass through this shipping route to reach consumer markets.
