On 17/9, Nghe An police, in collaboration with market management forces, inspected mooncake businesses in Truong Vinh ward (formerly part of Vinh City).
Upon searching the warehouses of two businesses, authorities discovered 475 cardboard boxes containing nearly 4,200 mooncakes of various types. The packaging displayed foreign writing. The owners of the two establishments were unable to provide invoices or documents proving the origin of the goods. They stated that the mooncakes were purchased from various sources and stored in the warehouses to be sold at higher prices for profit.
Two days prior, more than 600 mooncakes of unknown origin were also discovered and seized in Lang Son.
With the Mid-Autumn Festival still more than two weeks away, authorities are increasing inspections and surveillance of businesses to prevent low-quality and unverified products from entering the market.
