Over 25 billion U-Points from Techcombank redeemed monthly

On average, more than 25 billion U-Points are redeemed by customers monthly through the "optimize benefits with U-Point" feature on Techcombank automated profit generation.

Techcombank's OneU customer loyalty program allows users to convert one dong of profit from Techcombank automated profit generation into cash or two U-Points. These reward points can be used for payments, or exchanged for shopping, dining, travel, entertainment, sports, and healthcare offers within Techcombank's ecosystem of nearly 10,000 partners.

Beyond earning points through spending, payments, and product/service usage, customers have the option to accumulate U-Points from profits on their idle cash flow. The entire process of redeeming, managing, and using points is carried out seamlessly on Techcombank Mobile and Techcombank OneU.

With over 25 billion points paid out monthly, this stands as one of the largest regular point accumulation mechanisms within the Techcombank ecosystem. By August 2026, nearly 500,000 customers had registered for "optimize benefits with U-Point", with a total of 312 billion U-Points disbursed.

Ngo Anh Tuan, Senior Director of Payment Solutions and CASA, Retail Banking Division at Techcombank, stated the bank aims for each payment transaction to deliver additional value to customers.

"Connecting Techcombank automated profit generation with Techcombank OneU transforms benefits from idle cash flow into practical privileges, building a seamless financial experience and optimizing value at every touchpoint for customers," Tuan shared.

Launched in 2024 with the positioning "more value every day", Techcombank automated profit generation currently serves over 6 million users. This solution allows funds in checking accounts to generate profit at a maximum rate of 5,5% per year. Customers can still transfer funds, make payments, or withdraw cash as needed without moving money between checking and savings accounts.

Profits are accumulated daily and paid into the checking account the following month. When the "optimize benefits with U-Point" feature is activated, this profit is automatically converted into U-Points and recorded in the Techcombank OneU account. In 2025, the product received a Gold Stevie Award.

Hoang Trang, a business owner in TP HCM, highlighted liquidity as a key concern due to frequent payments to suppliers and inventory purchases. She uses automated profit generation to ensure unused funds generate profit while remaining accessible for spending when necessary.

"I can activate automated profit generation on a maximum of 4 accounts simultaneously. Importantly, these profits can also be converted into U-Points and redeemed for family needs like dining out on weekends or traveling. This way, the same idle funds can provide more value than simply receiving profits in cash," Trang explained.

According to a Techcombank representative, connecting these two features aims to expand how profits from idle cash flow can be used, shifting from cash reception to conversion into reward points for spending, shopping, and experiences. This initiative is part of the bank's strategy to develop a comprehensive financial ecosystem, linking products, services, and customer loyalty programs to increase value from the same cash flow.
