Seven stores selling counterfeit Gucci, Nike products fined over 200 million VND

Market management authorities recently fined seven businesses a total exceeding 215 million VND for selling counterfeit products of major fashion brands.

On 10/4, the Market Management Department, under the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade, announced it had completed processing cases for seven stores located in Son Tra and Hoi An wards. In addition to financial penalties, authorities mandated the destruction of all confiscated infringing items as per regulations.

During an unannounced inspection in early April, Market Management Team 2 seized 295 handbags suspected of counterfeiting Gucci, Chanel, Hermes, and Fendi brands. They also confiscated 27 pairs of Nike athletic shoes.

These establishments lacked proper invoices and documentation for the seized goods. The total value of the infringing merchandise was assessed at nearly 178 million VND.

This operation is part of a heightened market control campaign preceding the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026. Market management authorities stated they will continue to intensify inspections in tourist areas, shopping streets, and commercial centers. Repeat offenders or serious violations may be referred to investigative agencies if there are signs of criminal activity.

Authorities are also intensifying public awareness campaigns to help businesses comply with laws and to educate consumers on how to identify counterfeit and low-quality goods in the area.
