Today's session opened with the stock market repeatedly testing the 1.800-point mark, but failing each time. The index then fluctuated around its reference level, constantly shifting between gains and losses. Nearing lunchtime, the VN-Index entered a state described as "green on the outside, red on the inside".
This condition persisted into the early afternoon. However, mounting selling pressure decisively pushed the general index below its reference level. The VN-Index successively slipped to lower price ranges, closing near 1.766 points.
Capital flow today showed strong consensus. The HoSE recorded 225 declining stocks, 2,8 times the number of advancing stocks. The real estate, finance, and technology sectors were among the worst performers.
Blue-chip stocks continued to heavily influence the general index. This was evident as the VN30 index fell more than 27 points today, with 24 stocks in its basket showing declines.
According to VnDirect's calculations, VIC alone accounted for a nearly 13-point drop in the VN-Index. Vingroup's stock fell 3,5% today, closing at 207.900 VND. Market liquidity reached over 1.172 billion VND, the highest recorded. Buyers and sellers actively contended throughout the session, with nearly equivalent proportions.
Conversely, demand still sought out certain stocks with specific catalysts, such as TCB, MSN, DGW, GMD, and GVR. However, most of these experienced only modest price increases.
In today's correction session, liquidity moved in tandem with the index's decline. The total trading value on the HoSE reached nearly 18.700 billion VND, an increase of approximately 33%.
After only one session of net buying, foreign investors resumed net selling, offloading approximately 571 billion VND. The stocks facing the most significant selling pressure were TCB, VHM, VIC, HPG, and ACB. Nevertheless, foreign investors still net bought GEX, LPB, and SSI.
In its pre-market report this morning, VPBank Securities (VPX) noted that capital flow remained active but exhibited high divergence across sectors. It failed to achieve broad consensus as the index approached the critical resistance zone around 1.800 points. The 1.800-1.810 point range continues to be a notable challenge, especially as many stocks have already risen quickly from their lows and are nearing short-term resistance levels.
VPX recommended maintaining a reasonable portfolio allocation, prioritizing stocks with strong capital flow that have not experienced excessive gains. Investors should also avoid chasing prices as the index approaches 1.800 points, instead favoring buying during corrections and awaiting confirmation signals if liquidity improves.
