In January, domestic airlines operated 24,333 flights, with the industry's overall on-time departure rate reaching 71.1%. Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) led with an 87.9% on-time rate, corresponding to 967 flights out of a total of 1,100 operated flights.

This marks the second consecutive month SPA has topped the on-time performance rankings. Previously, in December 2025, the airline achieved an on-time index of 93.5%. A representative from Sun PhuQuoc Airways stated that the on-time rate reflects their commitment to respecting passenger time. "We strive to ensure every flight starts smoothly, providing a complete experience," the airline representative said.
SPA's positive operational results are supported by its modern and young fleet. The airline expects to expand its fleet to 9 aircraft by late February, including 5 newly manufactured A321NX (A321neo ACF) aircraft. This fleet expansion is being carried out in parallel with plans to develop its international flight network.

According to its roadmap, SPA will launch new international routes starting from early QII. These routes will connect Phu Quoc with Taipei (Taiwan), Busan (South Korea), Singapore, Bangkok (Thailand), and Hong Kong (China). Mumbai (India) and New Delhi (India) are slated as the next destinations in QIII.
The development of SPA is expected to elevate Phu Quoc's status as a significant international destination, especially as Sun Group takes over operations of Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC). This initiative aligns with the goal of preparing the island, often called "Pearl Island," for events like the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in 2027.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways, an investment by Sun Group, operates on a "hub-and-spoke" model. This model connects Phu Quoc with key domestic and international tourism and economic centers through direct, reasonably priced flights. The airline has secured several crucial certifications from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, including an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) with expanded international scope, an Approved Training Organization (ATO) Certificate, and an Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) Certificate. It also holds basic training competency for A320 and A321 aircraft technical personnel at levels A1, B1.1, B1, and B2.
