Three spending benefits for VIB Max Card holders

VIB Max Card integrates membership package options, up to 10% cashback on spending categories, an annual fee waiver, and flexible benefit adjustments to suit user needs.

VIB has introduced Max Card, a new generation credit card designed for personalization and flexibility, reflecting the evolving financial behavior of young users. This product addresses the shift from fixed spending structures to a preference for adaptability in financial tools.

Today's young consumers are accustomed to flexible service usage, such as monthly Spotify subscriptions, upgrading iCloud storage with a few taps, or pausing gym memberships when not in use. This trend highlights a preference for utilizing services based on actual needs rather than maintaining fixed costs. This shift extends to financial tools, with expectations for credit cards now aligning with this desire for flexibility and real-time adjustment.

The Max Card focuses on three key differentiating features: a benefit selection mechanism based on packages, cashback tied to spending behavior, and a simplified fee structure.

Unlike traditional credit card models that link privileges to tiers (classic, gold, platinum) and often require high spending to maintain status, VIB Max Card introduces a subscription model. This allows users to actively choose one of 4 membership packages: Starter, Plus, Pro, or Elite. Monthly fees range from 0 VND to 333,333 VND.

These packages are designed for three billing cycles and can be flexibly adjusted via the Max powered by VIB application. This adaptability enables users to align benefits with their actual needs. For instance, during periods of increased spending, such as travel, business trips, or peak shopping seasons, users can upgrade their package for broader benefits. When needs decrease, they can switch to a more suitable package to manage costs effectively.

The card also features a cashback mechanism tailored to common spending categories, moving beyond generic cashback rates. VIB Max Card focuses on 5 popular spending groups for urban users: shopping, dining, travel, entertainment, and online transactions. The cashback rate increases with each package, from 0,5% for Starter to a maximum of 10% for Elite, with an annual cashback limit of up to 18 million VND. Transactions outside these categories still receive a 0,1% cashback.

A key differentiator in VIB Max Card's cashback system is its ability to personalize benefits. Young users who primarily spend on dining, shopping, entertainment, or travel bookings—the 5 priority cashback categories—can maximize their card's advantages. Instead of a flat cashback rate on all transactions, they can choose a suitable membership package to receive cashback precisely where and when they spend the most, optimizing benefits for their main spending categories.

Max Card's fee structure is designed for simplicity and transparency, addressing a common barrier for new credit card users: complex fee schedules. The card simplifies its entire fee structure.

The annual fee is set at 0 VND by default, with no conditions or time limits. The number of fee types is also significantly streamlined compared to market standards. The Starter package allows users to begin using the credit card without incurring any fixed costs. For paid packages, the entire membership fee is refunded upon reaching a corresponding spending threshold, meaning users effectively incur no additional fees if they spend sufficiently. VIB states that this transparent and simplified fee schedule enhances the user experience and removes psychological barriers, especially for young customers new to credit cards.

VIB notes that these three elements demonstrate Max Card's innovative approach, where all benefits and costs are designed to be flexible and personalized. Users can actively choose and adjust features based on their needs, rather than being bound by fixed tiers or structures. As young consumers increasingly seek control and personalization in all services, VIB Max Card represents not just a new product but a significant shift in how the bank approaches personal finance.

Currently, Max Card is exclusively distributed through the Max powered by VIB application, allowing customers to apply for a card entirely online without visiting a branch or submitting paper documents. More information about the Max Card is available here.
