A report from Hon Dat High School detailed an incident that occurred on 22/11. A 10th-grade student, while on his way home from school, was intercepted by a group of schoolmates. Two of the assailants, also students from the same school, used objects to force the victim into a secluded road. They then assaulted him with their hands and helmets. The group proceeded to force a sanitary pad into the victim's mouth and filmed the entire act.
The video subsequently spread rapidly on social media, causing significant public outrage. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, especially as one of the two main assailants was over 16 years old, the principal of Hon Dat High School requested police intervention.
Initially, authorities confirmed that both primary perpetrators admitted their involvement in the incident. In response, the school administration of Hon Dat High School and the victim's homeroom teacher visited his home to offer support and encourage his return to school.
This incident highlights a disturbing trend of student violence, with multiple fights occurring since the start of the school year, some resulting in fatalities. Under Circular 19 from the Ministry of Education and Training, effective from 31/10, the most severe disciplinary action for students involved in bullying or assault cases is typically a self-reflection report, which must be confirmed by the student's family.
